If you ever wondered if a good looking website can make
a difference in your marketing efforts this story is for you.
In late 2003 The Food Network's Roker
on the Road show was looking for the best sandwich shops in America to showcase
on an upcoming Sandwich Heros show.
While there was no question Philly was the place to shoot the cheesesteak segment
there was that one problem...with so many great names in the business how do you
just choose one?
To help narrow down the choices the show's producers went online to investigate the
websites for a number of steak shops...some very well known, others only known as
neighborhood favorites.
It didn't take long before Rick's Steaks of the Reading
Terminal Market was chosen because "The website was just so much
better than the rest. You really get that they care about the product and they took
the time to explain the who, what, where, etc.
We knew just from the website that this was a clean establishment that's truly proud
of their great product and that we'd have no problem endorsing them on the Food Network".
As they say in the marketing business, "You can't buy PR like that!"
